Stardust Saltwater – Jonathan Foster

Well she walks like a pixie, talks like a ghost

She must feel so lonely driving alone

But her sun dress is flowing with her hat of gold

A perfect day planned with nowhere to go

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

So I hit the last site, no lottery winnings

Just karma points with summer storms passing

We’ll light a fire, tell stories of good times

Echoes and pine needles dance in the skies

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

What I know and believe to be true is I’m living enlightened insanity

Like there’s 500 kVs making your teeth bleed, stardust, saltwater, eternity

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

And I am the richest person you know, I’m a privilege of wonder, like silver or gold

Never feeling so small, to the canyon’s wall, drum roll of thunder

The smell of the forest, the sound of the stream

Sleep like a baby and eat like a king

There is no better place in the whole world to be

Than up in these mountains clearing your brain

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

Well he walks like a pixie, talk’s likes he’s free

He’s ever so lonely sitting under this tree

With his dirty feet soaking and his hat of green

A perfect day cancelled, still living the dream

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

Stardust, saltwater, someone’s son or daughter

And I am the richest person you know, I’m a privilege of wonder, like silver or gold

Never feeling so small, to the canyon’s wall, drum roll of thunder

Alpine Line – Jonathan Foster

Heading down the alpine line, mountain mama I need to find

Leave all your cares and troubles behind, going down the alpine line

Going where the summer winds don’t blow, going where to free my soul

Going where my clothes fit just so, I’m going down the alpine line

Leaving for to clear my mind, gotta find a place to unwind

Sing for your supper, sing for your sleep, sing it down the alpine line

Heading down the alpine line, mountain mama I need to find

Leave all your cares and troubles behind, going down the alpine line

Hey mister, how do I get there? Gotta find me a sweetie who cares

I know she’s my baby and I’ll treat her kind, going down the alpine line

I’ll take a little cheese and wine, find a blanket and some fishing line

And an old canteen for that water so sweet, going down the alpine line

Heading down the alpine line, mountain mama I need to find

Leave all your cares and troubles behind, going down the alpine line

I found a pretty flower to call mine, it’s back up the mountain to climb

All I got is all I need, heading down that alpine line

I’ll take a little cheese and wine, find a blanket and some fishing line

And an old canteen for that water so sweet, going down the alpine line

May Our Paths Cross Again – Jonathan Foster

Eyes running like dragon spice, the river’s swollen and the sky’s on fire

It’s okay to cry when your heroes die, remember why they make you feel inside

Beyond where dream catchers align

Far away from the dark and the light, far away from the dark and the light

Gonna sit out of the game awhile, put my keys on down, give it another try

Keep playing up that legal smile, strum guitar, hang up my phone awhile

With songs concreate as a tattooed guy

Far away from the dark and the light, far away from the dark and the light

May we all age like Prine and soak in the sunshine

May our dreams collide, one by one by the streamside

Let’s slow dance for a long while, on the patio to stop time

Now it’s just you and I, beckoned here to the dim light

Let’s drink all the red wine, make plans when we have time

May our paths cross again, gently by feet, by and by

I’m a barkeater at the break of day, with cantilever arms spread out wide

Secrets fading like small town lies, down that backroad to no one’s surprise

Take me where the grass river flows

Far away from the dark and the light, far away from the dark and the light

Some feel free to do whatever they please, may your words and deeds be kind and true

‘cause I won’t be here very long, string a couple words, sing another tune

I just want to hold you at the end of the night

Far away from the dark and the light, far away from the dark and the light

May we all age like Prine and soak in the sunshine

May our dreams collide, one by one by the streamside

Let’s slow dance for a long while, on the patio to stop time

Now it’s just you and I, beckoned here to the dim light

Let’s drink all the red wine, make plans when we have time

May our paths cross again, gently by feet, by and by

Into The Black – Jonathan Foster

We’re just sitting here, waiting for the smoke to clear, what seems to be each and every year

Close your eyes, hide the pain, see a hazy sky with small droplets of rain; dancing like dragonflies

“He’s an artist, of course he dreams, or is it just the demons running in his veins?”

That what she said, hanging up the phone to rest, only to scream his name; small droplets of rain

It feels like everything, was practice ‘til now, but experience seems to be lacking somehow

Uncertainty yearns, to be heard by the haunted, one way out, into the black, after the fact; wash the taste from my teeth

We just can’t help it, our wants and needs, when our souls tell us to emancipate

And we continue, as non-sustaining things, not learning from others misleading’s; back into the black

You wake up each day, the same look on your face, it used to be such a different way

Wind, earth, and fire; water, life and breath, but only when we respect all of its depth; letting go

Candles in the windows, someone’s disappeared, what you thought you saw once saw, has now reappeared

Just like ghosts, in this dust filled town, holding onto straws with your grip is locked; and the last one drops

The Ship – Jonathan Foster

I was born into my parent’s home, built from hard work, skin and bone

Looking back along that first long mile, too little time, so many smiles

& we’ve never seen the ship, rock like this, the cold splash chills my bones

& the stigma of it all, may be our greatest call, can we stand, embrace, or will we fall?

And I’ll admit, I regret that fit, I sure hope they’ll give me another try

Because you never know, when you’ve played your last show or the band won’t back you no more

& have we reached the precipice of human kindness, I’ll just keep on keeping on with my song

& I guess I have something left to say, but at the end of the day, it’s just rock and roll

When the infrastructure of freedom takes the form of a demon, you just want to stand up and scream

Just an artist entertainer, seeming like a no brainer - the sex, drugs and the coaster rolls

& the ship will rock, whether we like it or not, renew hope or go down without control

& there’s a loneliness inside, that I try to mine, don’t lose your shadow for others to find

Individualistic, we’re just born into it and love is love, whatever the toll

The diversity of humanity, not only how we thrive, but ultimately how we survive

& it may just be our insecurities, best to just check ‘em at the door

& I thank thee safe harbors when I roam, until I’m told to go on no more

It’s just a short order film, different perspectives wearing thin, when everyone marches to their own beat

Ain’t got no super powers, we can only try together and trust our souls to speak

& I’ll move along and you can have what went wrong, whatever it takes to make you happy

& the perception of the facts, you can have it all back, because it’s not you, it’s me

& the ship will rock, whether we like it or not, renew hope or go down without control

& there’s a loneliness inside, that I try to mine, don’t lose your shadow for others to find

& we’ve never seen the ship, rock like this, the cold splash chills my bones

& the stigma of it all, may be our greatest call, can we stand, embrace, or will we fall?

Shady Grove – Traditional

Peaches in the summertime, apples in the fall

If I can't have the girl I love, I don't want none at all

Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove, I know

Shady Grove, my little love, I'm bound for Shady Grove

Cheeks as red as a blooming rose, eyes the deepest green

You are the darling of my heart, stay and watch the moon with me

I wish I had a big, fine horse with corn to feed him on

With Shady Grove to stay at home and feed him when I'm gone

Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove, I say

Shady Grove, my little love, I'm bound to go away

Wish I had a guitar string made of golden twine

Every tune that I'd play on it, I’d wish that girl was mine

And I wish I had a needle and thread, that golden twine I’d sew

Sew that pretty girl to my side and down the road we’d go

Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove, I know

Shady Grove, my little love, I'm bound for Shady Grove

You see when I was just a little boy I wanted a Barlow knife

Now all I want is little Shady Grove to say she'll be my wife

Some come here to fiddle and dance, some come here to tarry me

Some come here to waltz and prance, I come here to marry

Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove, I say

Shady Grove, my little love, I'm bound to go away

Went to see my Shady Grove, she was standing in the door

Shoes and stockings in her hand, little bare feet on the floor

A kiss from pretty Shady Grove, sweeter than brandy wine

And there ain't no girl in this whole wide world, who’s prettier than mine

Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove, I know

Shady Grove, my little love, I'm bound for Shady Grove

Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove, I say

Shady Grove, my little love, I'm bound to go away

Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove, I know

Shady Grove, my little love, I'm bound for Shady Grove

When It Gets Dark – Jonathan Foster

When it gets dark, that’s when the problems start

When it gets dark, that’s when I steal your hearts

Well I’m moving to Buffalo, further away than any place I know

Yea, I’m moving to Buffalo, a friend there gonna keep me warm

Yea, I’m moving in real-time, the rest of the world will be just fine

Yea, I’m moving in light years, to stave off all my falling tears

Cause, when it gets dark, that’s when the problems start

When it gets dark, that’s when I steal your hearts

And when it gets dark, that’s when we all feel so smart

When it gets dark, that’s when my problems start

So come and join me in Buffalo, and we’ll keep you warm from the snow

I’ve got a favor to ask ya, let’s take a train to Alaska

By the time that we get there, we’ll need to give some cash to the bears

That way we can stand tall, and go swim with all the narwhal

Cause, when it gets dark, that’s when the problems start

And, when it gets dark, that’s when I steal your hearts

And when it gets dark, that’s when we all feel so smart

But when it gets dark, that’s when my problems start

When we dry off the icicles, we’ll need to go and rent two red bicycles

And hey, did you remember the map, otherwise we’ll never ever find our way back

No, did you remember the map, it’s the only thing I asked and that’s a fact

Not all who wander are lost, but in this case, we’re so lost!

When it gets dark, that’s when the problems start

But when it gets dark, that’s when I steal your hearts

And when it gets dark, that’s when we all feel so smart

But when it gets dark, that’s when my problems start

And then we’re going to Iceland & Greenland & the Black Forest by the Yellow River

Then we’re going to the Blue Bayou & the Emerald Triangle to Timbuctoo

You see when it gets dark you have to remember there’s still 25% of unaccounted light out there in the universe, well that’s a lot of light!

The Beast – Jonathan Foster

Got chaos at the disco, put the panic in pandemic

Think you’re better than someone, take a deep breath in

Finding grace in the twilight, searching for an answer

Deeds not words tell truth, listen, learn, to survive

If we don’t feed the beast, we all get to eat

If we don’t feed the beast, we’ll all be free

It’s the burden we’re born with, the burden of history

The burden we ignore, as long as it doesn’t affect me

Celebrity celebration, it’s one big competition

Let the cash flow all over us, better to just share all of it

If we don’t feed the beast, we all get to eat

If we don’t feed the beast, we’ll all be free

We’re all born the same, we’ll all die one way

Ashes or planted, no one’s above it

Big man taking action, enabling with his hands

No judge or jury present, just the trigger will do, yeah

If we don’t feed the beast, we all get to eat

If we don’t feed the beast, we’ll all be free

Got chaos at the disco, put the panic in the frantic

We’re all starving for an answer that isn’t going to be there

If we don’t feed the beast, we all get to eat

If we don’t feed the beast, we’ll all be free

Ani Bird – Jonathan Foster

You know there’s a little bird, she ain’t no cuckoo

See her with her friends, she’s an Ani-bird

Cutest little climber, with her sisters

In the bright forest, all along the trees

In her silhouette, staring at the sunset

Flying in a circle, all around the world

Wherever you see a, flock of blackbirds

The smart will succeed by her lead

Ah-neee, Ah-neee, he-he

On her travels, sees all she needs to be

With her plumage, glossy and shiny

Not a tick to the list, just her little fists

Little Ani-bird, go and be free!

Ah-neee, Ah-neee, he-he

She ain’t no usual suspect, ain’t no stinger boys

Ain’t no dark lark, or lawn carp toy

Bushwack for the chase, too many gas hawks for my taste

Pish, pish, sparkle bird, you’re a lifer for me

Cause’ you know there’s a little bird, she ain’t no cuckoo

See her with her friends, she’s an Ani-bird

Cutest little climber, oh with her sisters

In the bright forest, all along the trees

Ah-neee, Ah-neee, he-he

Ah-neee, Ah-neee, he-he-he

Where We Belong – Jonathan Foster & Morgan Hannaford

Who we’ve become, why not forever young? Where we’ve gone, always longing for the sun.

What we’re left with, tiny sand messages. When we shed a little light we’ll never be wrong.

This is where, this is where we, this is where we belong

Remember her red hair, don’t care, downtown, turning frowns upside down

It’s all messed up, all our thoughts, there’s no better place than where you are

Wiping our eyes, in our hearts, so full of life, always the spark – this is where we belong

This is where, this is where we, this is where we belong

Like a spider monkey shouting out loud, jumping onto the unsuspecting crowd

Powder loving mama’s big dreams, dancing all along the winding streams

A folk sister, ghostly prankster, armed with cold beverages mister – mister this is where we belong.

This is where, this is where we, this is where we belong

Now the pink stained streets of this red town, like a firecracker, it all broke down

Never ever try to put out a spark, with whiskey after dark, you’re always in our hearts, Kelle Clark

We left the pub through the side gate for another drink across the way

One last cast into the night, she tied us all together with her light

Now she must be making fun, still being so fit and young, knowing this is where we belong!

This is where, this is where we, this is where we belong

This is where, this is where we, this is where we belong
